Paul Weller is to be honoured for his exceptional input to music at next year's Brit Awards.The former Jam frontman, who formed the Style Council before releasing a solo career in 1991, will obtain the credit at the Earls Court event in February.
The award be familiar with musicians "whose influence, longevity and creativity puts them in the very top ranks of UK artists", Brit organisers said
Previous recipients include David Bowie, Sting, U2 and Duran Duran.
